Anyone who has stayed in one of our villas knows I’m passionate about the Algarve’s beaches. I love the sound of the waves, the golden sand, and the late afternoons on the coast. But today I want to share a secret with you: as beautiful as our beaches are from land, seeing the Algarve from the sea is a completely transformative experience.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boat trips departing from Albufeira Marina (just minutes from our properties) are undoubtedly one of the activities I recommend most to our guests. And today I’ll explain why!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Magic of Spotting Wild Dolphins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is nothing quite like the thrill of sailing peacefully and suddenly seeing a fin cut through the water. The waters off Albufeira are home to several families of dolphins (especially the Common Dolphin and the Bottlenose Dolphin).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing the joy on the kids’ faces\u2014and the adults too, I confess!\u2014when these magnificent animals start jumping and playing at the bow of the boat is simply unforgettable. It is nature in its purest, freest state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udca1 Gabi’s Tip: Which boat to choose?<\/strong> Many families ask me what type of tour they should book. Here is my golden advice: if you are traveling with babies or people with reduced mobility<\/strong>, opt for a Catamaran. They are super stable, spacious, and have a bathroom on board. If your group is looking for adrenaline and wants to go right inside the narrowest caves<\/strong>, choose the rigid inflatable boats (RIBs). They are faster and more agile!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Heading to the Majestic Benagil Cave<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After trying our luck with the dolphins, most tours head along the coast towards the West. The contrast of the orange and golden limestone cliffs with the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean creates a movie-like setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight? The famous Benagil Cave<\/strong>. Known as the “Algar de Benagil”, this cave has a natural opening at the top that lets sunlight in, illuminating the small beach inside. It is one of those places that looks hand-drawn. (Get your cameras ready!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Return Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A boat trip usually lasts about two to three hours. The sun, the sea breeze, and the excitement of the trip usually work up an appetite and leave us with that good holiday tiredness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
