Hello,

This morning, I let myself stay in bed a little longer. The weather’s getting cooler and, honestly, it’s hard to resist the comfort of the blankets on these crisp autumn mornings. After a nice hot shower and a bit of convincing to get the kids moving, we decided to head out and make the most of the day.

We hopped in the car and drove to Albufeira Old Town. We left the car in the car park and wandered through the little streets on foot. There was such a calm, welcoming atmosphere — a few people sitting on terraces with their coffee, others browsing the little shops, and the older gentlemen playing chess in the square. It felt like a scene straight out of the Algarve. Even with the chill in the air, everyone’s smiles were still warm and full of life.

We stopped at a tiny local café for a coffee… and, of course, a pastel de nata — because who can resist? Then we went up to the viewpoint to admire the beach and take a few photos. The kids were already grumbling about all the pictures, but in the end I got the perfect smile with that marvellous view behind us.

We carried on strolling through the local shops and markets. I love watching tourists discover every little corner — there’s something magical about seeing their wonder at the place I call home. And that’s what I love most here: the small moments, like the sparkle of the sea on a cool day or that ray of sunshine that warms you just enough.

We had lunch at a nearby restaurant and later popped into the shopping centre. The kids had such a great time — and, of course, wanted absolutely everything! But, as every mum knows, there’s always the classic “we’ll see on the way back.”

It was such a simple day, but so full of joy. I only wish you’d been here with us — laughing, wandering, and feeling this wonderful Albufeira energy.

With love,
Gabi Miguel
