Hello,
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the streets here in the Algarve are already full of Christmas decorations, there’s so much glitter and ornaments that I’m amazed I haven’t bumped into Santa Claus yet!
Today we decided to go on a different kind of stroll and headed to Lagos Zoo. I confess I didn’t find Rudolph and the other reindeer – they must be working hard for Christmas, losing a few pounds and making sure I can gain a few more – but I was rewarded with incredible moments among the lemurs, monkeys and all the excitement the zoo has to offer. Monkey Island is, as always, a hit — they really seem to own the place! As for the lemurs… we got to feed them, and it was simply delightful to see them curious, jumping around and exploring everything around them.
After this experience, we went to feed my little ones. Lunch was almost an adventure in itself — the energy and excitement were still there, and only calmed down when the delicious aroma of food reached the table, completely mesmerising them. We stopped in the centre of Lagos, at a typical Portuguese restaurant, with simple food, full of flavour and that homemade touch that makes us feel like we’re tasting our mother’s meals. It was delightful to see everyone enjoying every moment, between laughter and mouthfuls.
We ended the afternoon with some artisanal ice cream and strolled through the streets, exploring the local shops, before heading to Sagres to watch the sunset at Cabo de São Vicente. The wind, the cliffs, and the sky painted in shades of gold and pink made us stop for a moment and remember that, even though we live here, the Algarve continues to surprise us.
I reached the end of the day tired but with a full heart. Now it’s time to curl up in my cosy den, recharge my batteries and dream of the next adventures that this wonderful region still has in store for us. All that’s missing is you to complete the plan — next time, you’re invited to come and experience all this with us.
With love,
Gabi
